Another one of Capitol Hill’s restaurant gems is a triangular establishment called The Saint. Located on Olive, just after the Olive Way exit from I-5, The Saint is a multifaceted and multifunctional place to go for a drink or a meal or both. The location used to house Capitol Hill’s Wing Dome, an establishment that for many of Capitol Hill’s residents needs no introduction. Personally I was disappointed when the location closed, but I am now sufficiently satisfied with The Saint, the restaurant that has taken its place. Tequila lovers and Mexican food critics would have an equally enjoyable time at this place, given that it has one of Seattle’s best selections of food and drinks for a small mom and pop style restaurant.
If you’re a tequila connoisseur or even if you’re not, check out The Saint’s happy hour specials. These are my favorite excuse, or reason if you prefer to show up on a weeknight for some Tecate’s and Herradura to wash down a couple of pulled pork tacos and home made guacamole. For just a few dollars you can experience so many different flavors and textures here. I’ve never had a negative food experience here. The plates are served overflowing with excellent Mexican food and the happy hour specials really help to cut the bill down when you’re out to grab a meal. They even serve dozens of different types of tequila, ranging from the house drink to hundred dollar shots of the world’s best.
The Saint is an excellent place to bring a group of people if you’re out on Capitol Hill enjoying the night life. I’ve never seen a waiter worker harder to provide excellent service to the group of people I came in with last month. We must have ordered twelve different dishes and stayed for almost three hours to enjoy the fine selection of tequila they have there. I know that they have an added gratuity when they serve parties of six or more, but the service they provided was well worth it. I felt much better about paying that mandatory gratuity at the Saint than I have in the past at Mexican places where the food has been horrible and the service even worse. I think The Saint is best enjoyed with a group due to the plethora of menu options and intriguing, metropolitan atmosphere and ambiance.
I would recommend The Saint as an excellent place to grab a taco on the way to a club or as a place to spend the evening with good friends, enjoying access to some of the world’s finest tequilas. If you’re in town with a hangover, The Saint does brunch on the weekends. They even take reservations and offer some of the best hangover-killers money can buy. I’ve heard of people not being able to get in for brunch because of how packed the place was, but in my experience, I’ve always had good luck if I show up a little before they open and have already made reservations. If you’re on Capitol Hill and looking for a great bar or restaurant, give The Saint a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.
