‘Shame On You’ Pub Offers Authentic Cajun Grill, Good Drinks Too
On the prowl for a spicy fare, I find myself walking into a smaller bar and pub that specializes in Cajun food, appropriately named, Shame On You. Not expecting anything special in particular, after delving into their famous chicken and sausage gumbo, I am quickly converted to their southern flare. Namely, their food speaks for itself, and offers a different taste that is hard to find in Arizona. If you love Cajun food…this place definitely has been calling your name. Not surprisingly, the owner is from the South and menu consists of famous family recipes that date back hundreds of years.
What to Expect: this place is a comfortable bar and grill located just off the 101 freeway south as it meets Baseline road in Tempe, Arizona. You could easily miss it if you don’t know where to find it. Once inside you will find several tables with seating for four at each table, an island bar with seating and about room for twenty at the main bar. Southern hospitality is the theme here, so expect to be treated very politely. When at Shame on You, you will enjoy great service, original eats and some damn fine beers. Cajun cooking doesn’t get much better than this folks.
My Rating: ***** Five stars for amazing and authentic food, customer service, really good prices, awesome drink selections (including the rare Purple Haze beer on draft) and a great overall dining experience. While small and petite, this place certainly knows Cajun cooking, and they have been lauded by critics all over Arizona for their flavorful fare.
