Nestled between P. F. Chang’s and The Cheesecake Factory lies McCormick and Schmick's Seafood Restaurant, with its signature facade of gold lettering on forest green awning and terrace-like outdoor seating. The Millenia/ Orlando location is currently one of the only four located in the state of Florida.
This is an upscale seafood restaurant where the fish is fresh, ready to be shucked oysters are served, and dishes that come out faster than you can say abracadabra; unless, the kitchen crashes for an unbeknownst reason. Despite being part of a national chain, its popularity is quite unknown in this tourist drawn city.
The décor is dark wooded with green upholstery along with stained glass ceilings. The dining area has a variety of seating arrangements: open area seating, open and private curtain drawn booths, and banquet styled dining for private parties and events. With soft music playing in the background and dark wooded furniture making it a place of relaxing ambience to dine with friends and family, particularly a nice date, or even solo.
The pricing is certainly not for those who are faint of heart when it comes to their wallets during dinner hour, but perhaps not so much during the lunch or happy hour segment. This is no Red Lobster by all means with entrees priced up towards the mid-twenties and higher. However, if you would like to dine on deliciously prepared dishes with a taste for fresh seafood, aged steaks, salads, and pasta, by all means, dig in! If lunch or happy hour is your fare when dining out, they got a little something for you too and it is best time to snag some restaurant specials as well with their pride and joy in hand crafted drinks. Make sure to check their menus frequently since they change daily.
The service was professional yet friendly. I found my server to be attentive and anticipatory to the point of possible clairvoyance as to what I wanted or needed. My dishes were served in an orderly manner just the same as they were taken away and my choice of beverage was always refilled as needed. The staff was also cohesive in taking care of parties that were not their own should they have a spare moment such as running food and/ or drinks, or if a table needed something. The server assistants were just as attentive in turning the tables as the servers were. Part of the service staff professionalism that ties in everything, is their uniform: white pressed collared shirts and aprons, black slacks and shoes, and diagonally striped colored ties of their choice for the servers and black bow ties for the server assistants.
Currently, the restaurant is promoting a New Zealand inspired cuisine through the month of February with specialty wine pairings to a King Salmon entrée to a choice kiwi custard dessert.
