Forget that New Year’s resolution about watching your weight (at least for one day) and go on a delicious small bites excursion through Seattle, sampling some of the tastiest and adventurous dishes, offered at some of the most promising restaurants of 2012.
Appetizers
First, duck into the Coterie Room and try an appetizer. Perhaps the truffle fonduta sprinkled with fake pork rinds (I know it doesn’t sound appetizing but it is delicious). Or check out the popular RN74’s maitake mushroom tempura with its green onion mousseline. If you’re looking for something more filling chomp on a pretzel fresh from the oven at Brave Horse Tavern; try the bacon flavored peanut butter dipping sauce if your more adventurous.
More in the mood for a Charcuterie? Head to Hitchcock and sample the Ionza platter, featuring salty and aged pork loin with olive oil sprinkled on top and a grape granita on the side. Another popular spot is Le Grand Bistro Americain offering a chicken liver pate that melts in your mouth. Mmm mm
Small Dishes
If your stomach is still begging for more, waltz into Golden Beetle for their steamed clams with hints of orange and Serrano pepper. Or, head over to Little Water Cantina where their tuna ceviche is like a fiesta in your mouth (sorry I couldn’t help myself). If you’re needing some soup to warm you in these winter months try Marche’s Quenelles en Nage, chicken dumplings in a chicken and celery potage. Or, experience the tripe stew served at Artusi.
